Are your kids scared of monsters under the bed? Does it keep them up at night?
Don’t worry, we have some great tricks that can help your little ones feel safe and sound in their own beds.
From a simple flashlight to a magical dreamcatcher, these five parent tips will keep any monsters away!
Shining a flashlight under the bed
If your child is scared of monsters under the bed, you can use a flashlight to help prove that there are no monsters! Shine the flashlight under the bed and show them that it’s just an empty space.
Explain that there’s nothing to be afraid of – there’s no way a monster could hide in such a small space.
Explain that if they’re still scared, they can always keep a flashlight nearby and shine it under the bed whenever they feel scared.
Make a monster spray
Are your kids scared of monsters under their bed? Make them a monster spray to keep the monsters away! All you need is a spray bottle, some water and a few drops of essential oils.
Let your kids pick their favorite scent, like lavender or eucalyptus. Then, when it’s time for bedtime, have them spritz their bedroom with the monster spray and feel safe and secure!
Distract with a colorful mobile
Hang up a colorful mobile over your child’s bed to distract them from the monsters lurking beneath it. Making it yourself is even better as you can choose the colors and shapes to suit your little one’s fantasies.
You could even get your child involved in making it, as they will be more likely to believe in the power of the mobile.
Masking monster noises
When it comes time for your little one to sleep, playing music or having a fan running can create a white noise that will help to mask any monster noises.
This can be especially helpful if your child is particularly sensitive to noises. Choose a soothing instrumental track or nature sounds such as rainfall or ocean waves.
The fan should be set on low, and far enough away from the bed that it doesn’t create too much of a chill in the room.
Hang a dreamcatcher
Hang a dreamcatcher over your bed to trap any monsters lurking under it. Not only are dreamcatchers beautiful, but they are also believed to have the power to ward off bad dreams and negative energy.
Make sure the dreamcatcher is facing towards the bed, so it can catch any monsters that try to sneak in.
